Dr. John U Trefny Honor Program Application

The Honors Program at RRCC is an academic program open to all full-time students who are interested in developing their capacity for innovation, research, and leadership. Honors requires a commitment to doing – and being – something extra. While anyone can join the introductory Honors class, continuation in the program beyond one semester requires successful completion of required Honors coursework, and a rolling GPA of 2.5 or above. All coursework must be completed in-person at the Lakewood Campus.

Rather than completing a full application, students who wish to start in Fall Semester, 2025 should register for the Honors course, HNR 1075, Special Topics (CRN 23510 – HNR 1075 – 01T). This is an accelerated seminar, meaning it will run from Sep 26, 2025 – Dec 05, 2025. During this period, class will meet every Friday from 1:30 pm – 4:15 pm. There may be occasional required outings. THIS IS AN IN-PERSON CLASS, AND ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED.

Continuation in the Honors Program will then be based on successful completion of the first Honors class.

Students who enroll in Honors 1075 will receive a small scholarship to offset the credit cost of taking the class. Please be aware, to combat fraud, funds are not disbursed until 2-3 weeks AFTER the start of the class (sometime in mid-October).

For more information about the program and its requirements, please contact the Director at Martin.Doppelt@rrcc.edu

Award
